FAITH FORMATION
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)
The family is the child’s first teacher. The goal of religious education for children is to partner with the family in providing knowledge about our faith and an experience of life in the Christian community. Emphasis is placed on the development of a personal relationship with Christ. The sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist are generally received for the first time in the second grade.
2018-2019 CCD Class Schedule
(Classes begin the week of September 16th )
Monday at 4:30 pm Grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th
Monday at 6:30 pm Grades 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th
Wednesday at 5:00 pm Grades 5th and 7th
Saturday at 9:00 am Grade 3rd and 4th
Sunday at 6:30 pm Grades 6th, 8th and 9th
During Lent all classes will be attending Stations of the Cross. Your children's teacher will announce which date they will be attending as a class. Stations of the Cross are at 7pm on March 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5, 12 and 19.
Please note there will be no
classes held on the following dates:
October 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th (Columbus Day Weekend)
November 10th, 11th and 12th (Veteran's Day Weekend)
November 18th (Retreat for 8th and 9th Graders)
November 24th, 25th, 26th and 28th (Thanksgiving Break)
December 22nd through December 31st (Christmas Vacation)
January 19th, 20th, 21st and 23rd (Martin Luther King)
February 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th (President's Day)
March 30th and 31st, April 1st and 2nd (Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter)
April 13th, 14th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st (Easter and Spring Recess)
May 5th (First Holy Communion)
May 13th (Mother's Day)
No Classes if school is canceled due to inclement weather
No Classes if school dismissed early due to inclement weather
***All class cancellations, due to snow and other unforeseen issues will be announced on Channel 4 NBC news***
- All CCD Classes for grades 1 thru 9 are held in Murtha Hall at OLOS and XXX at St Joseph.
- First Penance and First Holy Communion are received in the 2nd grade.
- Confirmation is received in the 9th grade.

Confirmation
Confirmation classes are held for high school students preparing to make the sacrament of Confirmation. The program includes activities such as retreats, and community service projects.
