Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a special gift of the Church for those who are ill. In this sacrament, a priest anoints the person with the Oil of the Sick, which is blessed by the diocesan bishop each year during Holy Week. Through this anointing, the Church entrusts the sick to the healing power of Jesus Christ, unites their suffering with His, and bestows the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This sacrament is typically celebrated in two ways:
- Individually, before surgery or in a hospital room, nursing home, or private home.
- Communally, during parish celebrations.
The Church encourages all the faithful to seek the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick when needed. It may be received more than once. If you would like to receive the sacrament, please contact the Parish Office.
