Baptism is the gateway to the sacraments and is necessary for salvation. It is the first Sacrament of Initiation in the Catholic Church, the foundation of our life in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Baptism bestows God’s grace on a person, frees the recipient from Original and Personal Sin, and makes the person a member of the Body of Christ, the Church.
INFANTS

ADULTS
For adults joining the faith, instruction concerning this Sacrament can be arranged through the RCIA (Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults) program. Please contact Cindy Niedbala at rcia@stocpct.org.

Our Lady of Sorrows: Every Sunday after the Noon Mass.
St. Joseph’s: Every Sunday after the 10 am Mass.
Fr. Peter will administer the sacrament of baptism on the first Sunday.
GODPARENTS
At least one of the godparents needs to be a confirmed practicing Catholic (if married, they must have been married in the Catholic Church, or a marriage recognized by the Catholic Church). “There is to be only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each.” (Canon law 873). The parents of the child cannot be sponsors. Sponsor from other parishes should obtain a letter of sponsorship from his/her pastor.
